Boys Head Coach

Coach Riley McClurg, a former Indiana State Champion from Perry Meridian, is in his first year leading Greenfield-Central’s wrestling program.

Over nine seasons at Roncalli and Warren Central, his teams earned 139 dual wins, five Sectional titles, two Regional titles, three Semi-State titles, and two top-5 finishes at the IHSAA State Tournament. He has coached 36 State Qualifiers, 29 State Place Winners, and 7 Individual State Champions.

Coach McClurg is a Bronze Certified Coach through USA Wrestling.

Assistant Coaches

Coach Austin Early, a 2008 Greenfield-Central graduate, has been with the Cougar wrestling program since 2009, coaching at every level. He has helped lead the team to five Hoosier Heritage Conference titles, two Spartan Classic wins, and three straight IHSWCA Team State Duals appearances (2022–2024), including a third-place finish in 2022.

Across the boys’ and girls’ programs, he has coached 35 state qualifiers and 24 state medalists, including four finalists and one state champion. In 2022, he also led Team Indiana’s 14U Freestyle squad to a third-place national finish.

Coach Kenneth Thompson, a 2020 Greenfield-Central graduate, has over a decade in wrestling and is in his fifth year as an assistant coach. He has worked across all levels of the boys’ and girls’ programs, from elementary to high school.

During his time on staff, Greenfield-Central has earned four conference titles, two Spartan Classic wins, and three IHSWCA Team State Duals appearances.
